About Alex’s Bakery – A Family Bakery

Alex’s Bakery is an independent, family-run bakery in Manchester, built on passion, tradition, and a genuine love for baking.

I’m Alexandra Furlan, a Brazilian baker and the heart behind Alex’s Bakery. Together with my husband Roger, who keeps everything running behind the scenes, and our two sons Henrique and Lucca, we’ve created something that means much more than just a business — it’s our family story.

What started as a simple idea has grown into a small but dedicated team of talented people, all sharing the same goal: to create food that brings comfort, joy, and a sense of home.

Our Story – Where It All Began

My love for baking began as a child in Brazil, in my grandmother’s kitchen. I still remember the first cake we made together — a traditional chocolate cake called Bolo Nega Maluca. It was rich, simple, and full of warmth, and it quickly became a favourite in our family.

That moment stayed with me. Baking became something more than just food — it became a way of expressing care and creating memories.

Years later, that same passion found a new home here in Manchester. You can still see those roots in everything we do today, from our cakes to our brownies, all made with the same care you’d expect from a true family bakery in Manchester.

Baking in the Heart of Manchester

Today, our bakery is based on Deansgate, right in the centre of Manchester. It’s where everything comes together — early mornings, fresh ingredients, and a team that truly cares about what we create.

We focus on simple things done well: fresh cakes, handmade bakes, and good coffee. Everything is prepared daily, and nothing means more to us than seeing people enjoy what we’ve made.

Our journey in Manchester started back in 2014 at local artisan markets. It was a small beginning, but it allowed us to connect directly with people and share what we loved doing.

From there, we grew into new spaces, including the Trafford Centre, and slowly built a loyal community around our baking.

We’ve never lost sight of those early days. Even as we’ve grown, Alex’s Bakery has remained a personal, independent bakery in Manchester, shaped by the people who visit us and support us.

Sharing Our Bakes Beyond Manchester

While our bakery is rooted in Manchester, we’ve also found ways to share what we do with people across the UK.

Our brownies and blondies, which have become a big part of who we are, can now be enjoyed nationwide through our brownie delivery service. Each one is still made with the same attention and care as if you were picking it up in store.
